Getting into the Christmas spirit

PRAI assemblyman and Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Dr P. Ramasamy hosted an early Christmas open house in his constituency.

The event was held at the Saints Chastan and Imbert Catholic Church in Chai Leng Park, Prai, on Sunday.

A host of events was lined up and the parishioners and guests were treated to a variety of local delicacies at the buffet lunch.

The open house saw colourful events held including dances, Christmas carols and musical performances.

To make it merrier, Santa Claus went around greeting those who attended the event.

Dr Ramasamy said that he worked closely with all religious organisations in the state.

“I think it is important in Malaysia for us to respect all religions.

“We can be Hindus, Christians, Muslims and Taoists.

“It doesn’t matter because the most important thing is that we respect each other’s religion.

“We shouldn’t tolerate any form of extremism because it is not good for the stability of our country.

“This is why Pakatan Harapan always makes sure that we appreciate people who belong to different religions,” he said.

He added that people should not think that their religion is superior than others.

“This is not good for a cordial and stable society.

“Malaysia is famous for all the different festivals we celebrate and let us continue upholding that,” he said.
