IT was not only the Miss CosmoWorld 2018 crown that Delvia Wirajaya took home during the pageant’s final, but also a strong friendship with the other two winners.

The 26-year-old lass from Indonesia, became close friends with first runner-up Jeanyfer Ozbot, 24, from the Philippines and second runner-up Milica Vuklis, 25, from Serbia.

“I shared a room with Jeanyfer during the Amazing Race activities; we teamed up with Milica, and all three of us became close friends.

“Although we did not win the race, the three of us ended up in the top three spots. I did not expect that,” Delvia said during a press conference after the pageant’s final at JW Marriot Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

She added that she was exuberant over her victory.

“Honestly, I still can not believe it and I am grateful to the pageant organiser,” she added.

Ozbot said it was her first time being in an international pageant, and winning second place was something she was proud of.

“Being able to represent the Philippines is my honour. I have proved myself by winning the first runner-up place. I am also happy to be given a chance to go to Italy for vacation after winning the pageant as it is my father’s home country,” she said.

The winners took home cash prizes of RM50,000 in total and a vacation in Italy.

They also received prizes, contracts, film and modelling opportunities valued at RM500,000 in total.

Organised by CL Skin Sdn Bhd, Miss CosmoWorld 2018 is in its second year, and is aimed at grooming outstanding beauty queens.

Participants went through 17 days of packed training and classes to be groomed in various aspects.

There are two Malaysian contestants in the pageant, but only Michelle Yvonne Woulfe made it to the top eight.

The other top eight contestants were Nissareen Libung, 26, from Thailand; Lee Seung Hae, 21, from South Korea; Vivien Remias, 25, from Hungary; and Kiet Kim Yee, 23, from Cambodia.

Guests invited to the gala dinner and final were treated to a vegetarian spread to promote environmental awareness.

Pageant organiser Carrie Lee, who won Miss Chinese Cosmos International 2004, said it was exceptional discipline, personality and attitude displayed by the contestants that led them to win the pageant.

“The participants went through a lot of tests and challenges during the competition, but they overcame it all,” she said.

Lee added that having more than 13 years of experience in organising beauty pageants in both Malaysia and South-East Asia helped her make this a success. “We are hoping to organise the third edition of Miss CosmoWorld,” she said.
