Ipoh orphanage in need of donations

PUSAT Jagaan Anak-Anak Yatim Dan Miskin Nurul Iman in Manjoi, Ipoh, is seeking donations to run the home and feed some 28 poor and orphaned children.

The home’s management secretary Nurazilah Ahmad Mazlan said at least RM14,000 a month was needed to pay for rent, utilities, food and other expenses.

“We also need to pay staff salaries and finance some of the children who are in colleges and polytechnics.

“On a good month, we can sustain and afford to pay the bills. But lately, donations have lessened,” she said.

Nurazilah added that the management was also looking for a permanent home instead of renting one.

“We pay about RM950 a month for rental, and this is actually our fourth time moving. We need a permanent home because who knows when the landowner will want the place back,” she said, adding that they have been renting the current premises for the past 13 years.

Nurazilah said they were in need of dry goods, fresh food and new clothing for the children.

She said the home sometimes received clothes that were condemned or dirty.

“Once someone gave us some clothes that had used menstrual pads in it,” she added.

Nurazilah said she welcomed all kinds of donations and the home also accepts uncooked rice in small quantities. For details, call 05-526 0071.
