SMART Reader Worldwide organised a day to remember for nearly 50 children at Rumah Kebajikan Anbu Illam and Rumah Kebajikan Karunai Illam.

Gathering at Rumah Kebajikan Karunai Illam in Kepong, Selangor, the residents of both shelters welcomed the team from Smart Reader Worldwide for a Deepavali celebration.

Staying with the spirit of the festivities, the team together with the children created beautiful kolam art.

The activity saw them laugh, converse and share ideas together. Besides that, the children also had a quiz and trivia session, which aimed at expanding their vocabulary by learning new words while having opportunities to win interesting prizes.

The celebration ended with a presentation of donations, gift baskets and goodie bags filled with snacks, stationery and special merchandise to the caretakers and residents of the homes.

“We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of background, socio-economic status, gender, race or religion,” said Smart Reader Worldwide executive director Keefe Ong.

“We hope that our efforts today have not only helped to spread joy and love to the children in conjunction with Deepavali, but also send a broader message to help where we can to those in need.”
