First-hand experience at Fire and Rescue air unit in Miri

PUPILS got a chance to experience the operations of the Miri Fire and Rescue Department air unit when they visited the airbase in Miri Airport.

Miri Fire and Rescue Department chief Supt Law Poh Khiong said the air unit played host to 71 pupils and eight employees from Tadika Sri Mawar Miri and gave them a tour of the air base.

“The pupils were given a chance to see our helicopters and even board a plane,” said Supt Law.

“Talks were given on the responsibilities and functions of the air unit.”

The Miri Fire and Rescue Department also conducted a fire safety talk along with building evacuation training and demonstration to extinguish fires at SK Bekenu Miri, SM Sains Miri and OUB Bank.

Other outreach initiatives by the fire and rescue teams in Miri included a career and fire safety talk and demonstration for pupils and employees of Tadika Kemas Kampung Pujut Sungai Adong by the Lopeng Fire and Rescue Department staff.

Over 600 participants were involved in the outreach programme by the Miri and Lopeng Fire and Rescue Departments.
