JOTUN Paints Malaysia has launched the Jotun Global Colour Trends 2019 to introduce its “Identity Colour” collections.
They represent three globally resonant themes – Calm, Refined and Raw.
The 28-shade palette was compiled over a year by Jotun colour specialists at its headquarters in Norway, incorporating the insights of a global network of colour-trend researchers.
Jotun Global Colour manager Lisbeth Larsen believed that the home is the living story of a person, in the form of objects and colours.
She said the period of using colour and design to reflect aspirations or “putting on a show” for guests was over, as today’s colour palettes are built on honesty, integrity and truth.
“Identity is a word we always hear. Everybody wants to be a little bit special, not just in fashion sense but on colour choices,” said Larsen.
“Our research showed three identities that resonate with homeowners from every global city, each portraying a person’s mindset and way of living.
“The Calm palette has soft, light neutrals, warm and subtle contrasts. It is perfect for slowness with simplicity that we can peacefully return to as life grows faster and busier.
“Shades of green and yellow in the Refined palette are inspired by vintage treasures and new design pieces with a touch of forest vibe.
“With this seemingly eclectic collection dotting our home, it feels as though we are living in our personal gallery.”
Larsen said the Raw palette reconnects people with the warm colours of soil and sand, which is reminiscent of a relaxed, rural atmosphere.”
Jotun’s colour card includes its colour-matching tool that allows users to easily identify complementary shades within a single colour family, or create harmonious colour variations in the same space.
