JOHOR BARU: Volunteers from Calvary City Church Selesa Jaya showed warm compassion when they visited and entertained children of Shan De orphan home.
Some 40 children were happy to be able to play games and interact with volunteers of the church.
Programme team leader Ruiyun Esther said she was overjoyed to see the brilliant smiles on the faces of the children.
“All we wanted to do is add colour to their lives and hope that they can see for themselves how much love the world has for them.
“It’s the little things we can do to bring meaning into their lives and in return, we feel more alive too,” she said.
She added that nine teams of volunteers, consisting of 11 to 12 youths each were involved in the three-hour visit.
Esther said the volunteers were aged between 20 and 45 from all over Johor.
“We want to thank the kind friends and businessmen who have contributed food for the event.
“We will continue to spread more love to the community by conducting more of such simple acts,” she said.
She added that volunteers learnt a lot from the experience and were very excited to be involved in the project.
“We hope the children will remember that just because they are orphans does not mean there is no one there for them.
“We are always here to be their mothers and fathers,” she said.
