THE Draft Kuala Lumpur City Plan (DKLCP) 2020 will be gazetted in early November, says Khalid Abdul Samad (pic).
The Federal Territories Minister said the plan was finalised in 2012.
“The plan is also attached with (an) addendum on the developments that are contrary to it.
“After this, we will work on the DKLCP 2040. The infringements in the current plan and new additions will be taken into consideration.
"Work will start next year and hope it will be gazetted by end of 2020,” he said.
Khalid said time and money had been spent on DKLCP 2020 and although it is late, they were going ahead to gazette it despite some objections that it should be amended first .
“We are gazetting it anyway, at least to start the new kind of work culture that we are trying to establish within the ministry and DBKL.
“We will gazette it with the understanding that there are things that will change,” he said, adding that the plan was with the Attorney General's Chambers.
Khalid explained that work on DKLCP 2020 started in 1998 and, after much deliberation, was finalised in 2012.
“It was supposed to be gazetted but (that) never happened.
"As a result, the whole development of the city was at the mercy of the then Federal Territories Minister and the previous Kuala Lumpur mayor who had to follow the minister's orders,” he said.
