‘Extend runway for larger aircraft’

IT IS more cost-effective to upgrade the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport than building a new one, said Perak Investment, Industry and Regional Development Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin.

He said building a new international airport would be costly, but extending the runway at the current airport in Ipoh would be cheaper. He added that if this took place, 200 residents living near the airport would have to be compensated.
