HOTEL Royal Penang’s scrumptious new Malaysian Buffet Lunch allows one to eat to heart’s content for just RM28.
Served from noon to 2.30pm Mondays to Fridays, the spread features around 35 items and offers excellent value for money.
It is a successor to the popular economy rice the hotel previously served at the foyer of neighbouring Penang Plaza.
With the cosy Grove Brasserie coffee house now serving as the venue, diners can feast in stylish, air-conditioned comfort.
Menus are rotated daily, but typically have starters like local ulam and assorted salads, together with a soup of the day such as Tom Yam or Sup Berempah.
There are half a dozen mains, including one poultry item like Ayam Percik, Ayam Masak Bali, Braised Ginger Chicken or Chicken Pongteh.
Red meat dishes come in the form of Beef Rendang or Green Curry Beef on some days, and Kari Kambing or Kurma Daging on others.
For seafood, possibilities include Kari Ikan Senangin, Sweet and Sour Fish, Ikan Masak Asam, Sotong Kong Poh or Siput Lala Berapi.
An action station offers one Mee Mamak, Fried Bihun, Kampung Fried Rice and Nasi Ayam, or a noodle alternative such as Malay Laksa, Koay Teow Thng, Curry Mee and Hokkien Mee.
Cucur Udang or Cucur Pisang might also be available. Desserts comprise an assortment of Malay and Nyonya Kuih, as well as Bubur Kacang Hijau, Pengat Pisang, Leng Chee Kang or a special Roti Jala with Kuah Manis.
Finish off with coffee or tea. The hotel welcomes groups, but it is advisable to make bookings in advance. Besides the Malaysian Buffet, there is also Saturday Hi Tea from noon to 3pm, priced at RM35 for adults and RM28 for kids and seniors, with tasty light bites.
The Royal Western Grill Buffet Dinner served from 7pm to 9.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays spotlights succulent meats, homemade pizzas and pastas. It goes at RM58 (adults), RM48 (seniors) and RM38 (kids).
Still available is the Steamboat Galore package for two at RM45, available 11am to 9pm Sunday to Thursday, and 11am to 3pm Friday and Saturday.
Tiffin Set Lunch is served from noon to 2.30pm on Sunday. Priced at RM22, it offers a choice of chicken, fish or beef with two side dishes and rice.
