JOHOR: MORE than 1.8 tonnes of trash were collected within an hour along a 1.5km-stretch of the southern-most beach at Desaru Coast in Johor in a recent clean-up campaign.

Plastic bottles, styrofoam items, ropes, plastic bags, straws, plastic cups and plates, bottle caps, glass bottles, cigarette butts and footwear were separated into recyclables and non-recyclables, while pollutants like tar balls were removed.
