THE recent Malaysia Book of Records Live! three-day event at Sunway Velocity in Kuala Lumpur saw 56 new records achieved.
MBR Live! was held to inspire Malaysians to achieve feats and surpass their limits.
It was also to celebrate our national record holders and for the public to join in the challenges and attempts to become a new record holder.
There was also the MBR hall of fame showcase in which some of Malaysia’s greatest record holders appeared in meet-and-greet sessions.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo, who was present at the launch, also set the record as the First Sikh Minister in the country.
The second day saw more than 15 certificates presented to achievers.
The day started with the opening performance by rappers Frequensi and Wo Shi Jay, who also attempted to break a new record for the “fastest rappers to rap”.
Among the certificate recipients were the NCT Group of Companies for the Highest Altitude Glass House, Highest Altitude Glass Bottom Link Bridge and Largest Banquet Hall At Highest Altitude.
NCT Group’s new project, the Grand Ion Majestic which is a luxury serviced apartment, received recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records, following their highly-acclaimed Ion Delemen, which is also in the Malaysia Book of Records.
Floor Culture received recognition for the Fastest Flooring Installation, followed by Unique Fire’s First Manufacturer of Design Fire Extinguisher, and Master Craft for First Fire Resistant Kitchen Cabinet Panel and Longest Period of Time Water Resistant Kitchen Panel.
The record for Longest Non-Stop Live Broadcasting Business Talk By An Individual went to Datuk Jonathan Lim (24 hours).
Certificates for Longest Distance Single-Handed Motorcycle Ride went to Santana Dass, and, First To Win Strider Cup World Champion-ship and First To Complete Triple Ultra Triathlon 2018 went to Muhammad Imran Ismail Shariman.
In the fitness challenge, Muhamad Andika Putera Salleh set a new record for Most Push Ups In Five Minutes (161 push ups), while Isaac managed 80 skips to achieve Most Skips In 30 Seconds.
In the eating challenge, Tng Mei Fong ate 92 meatballs to set a new record for Most Number Of Meatballs Eaten In Five Minutes and Most Number Of Meatballs Eaten In A Single Sitting.
The second day closed with a fashion showcase by Youngest Fashion Designer, 10-year-old Amelia Lee Zi Yuen.
More than 20 MBR certificates were presented on the third and last day.
The closing ceremony started with a live demo and certificate presentation to Ultron – the 75g sporting top made from micro-dry fabric, which made its way into the Malaysia Book of Records for being the Lightest Running Tee.
Certificates were presented for Most Balls Juggled With Knee In One Minute (161 times) and Longest Ball Juggled With Knee (8,050 times in one hour and 11 minutes) to Mifzal Aqil Fauzi.
The new record for Fastest Individual Sport Stacking (5.744 seconds) went to Chan Keng Ian, and Fastest Team Relay Sport Stacking (13.104 seconds) to Chan Keng Ian, Wong Jun Xian, Liew Zi Hin and Chin Kang Yu.
There was also a cooking demonstration by Cuckoo for Shortest Time For A Multi-Cooker To Cook Gaba (germinated brown rice) Rice (two hours).
In the Most Gaba Rice Eating In A Single Sitting, once again Tng Mei Fong ate her way to a new record by consuming 32 bowls of rice.
The 988 Radio Drama Team received recognition for the Longest-Running Cantonese Radio Drama (45 years) which has been airing since 1973.
Fipper made its way into the record book for the Biggest Slipper Replica with its 5m-long replica.
Low Jia Cheng achieved the Most Yo-yo Eli Hops In 30 Seconds (72 times); Chew Zi Hao for Most Consecutive Yo-Yo Inside Loops In One Minute (184 times), and Cham Hong Xin for Most Off-String Over Hand With A Yo-Yo In 30 Seconds (37 times). The first two records also broke the current Guinness World records.
There were also wushu performance and certificate presentation to the Youngest World Junior Wushu Championship, Alvyn Toh Jung Hyuk. The seven-year-old boy received the First Youngest Gold Medal Male Winner in two international wushu tournaments.
Ragu Ramarani, 43, and his 13-year-old son Surya found a place in the Malaysia Book of Records for Longest Distance Walk By Duo by walking 1,400km from Johor to Perlis in conjunction with the Merdeka Month.
Mohd Fakhrulazam received certification for Longest Non-Stop Solo Cycling On Exercise Bicycle (48 hours, 48 minutes, 48 seconds).
In the Gintell challenge, the Longest Distance Run On A Treadmill – Man went to Abdul Rahman (171.53km) while the Longest Non-Stop Run On A Treadmill – Woman went to Ngeoh Chye Choo (115.29km).
Dorra Slimming clinched Most Number Of Participants In A Lower Body Fat Losing Programme Conducted In A Year with 10,998 participants.
Shakura Pigmentation Beauty received certification for Most Number Of Skin Pigmentation Scanning Conducted In Seven Days (575 participants, Sept 21-27), and Johnson Protein for Most Number Of Participants In Hair Scalp Scanning and VE Protein Hair Growth Treatment In A Year.
There was a surprise certificate presentation to Namewee for Highest Music Video Views On YouTube, Most Views For Single Music Video On YouTube (Chinese) as well as Most Music Video On YouTube (Chinese).
Namewee’s music video Stranger In The North garnered the highest YouTube music video views in Malaysia (in excess of 134 million views) and he is the only Chinese artiste with 103 music videos on YouTube.
Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Steven Sim was present at the closing ceremony, also attended by Malaysia Book of Records founder Tan Sri Danny Ooi and chief executive officer Datuk Michael Tio.
