JOHOR BARU: The state government has been urged to close the sand mining pools in Tenggara, Kota Tinggi, as they pose a risk to the public, especially children.

Green Earth Society Johor president P. Sivakumar said there were many abandoned sand mining pools located near the Kota Tinggi waterfalls – a popular picnic spot among locals and Singaporeans.
