A FULL “moon” at Sunway Velocity Mall’s main atrium is one of the indications that the Mid-Autumn Festival is given priority here.

To mark the season, the mall launched its Mid-Autumn Festival called “An Autumn Reunion”, introducing its display of detailed and intricate decorations at its concourse.

With themed booths complemented by intricate decorations, the mall is inviting shoppers to check out its Mid-Autumn Festival offerings until Sept 24.

Sunway Velocity senior general manager K.S. Wong said the decorations for this year’s festival was significant.

“There is a full moon at the main atrium. In Chinese culture, the circle signifies unity and perfection.

“The main inspiration for our chosen theme is highlighting deeper values and reuniting families to celebrate a day where the moon is at its fullest, “ said Wong.

Sunway Velocity Mall signature lantern-making contest was held in conjunction with the launch.

Wong said, “Our signature lantern-making competition received good response as we got more than 100 entries.

“The most eye-catching submissions are currently being displayed at the mall’s Jalan Peel entrance,” he said.

The top 23 finalists received their prizes at the event.

The festival would not be complete without the evergreen mooncakes.

This time, renowned household brands and vendors such as Overseas, Hilton, Tai Thong, Casahana and Grand Imperial will be offering a vast selection of speciality mooncakes.

During this festival, unique Mid-Autumn offerings such as OTOP Taiwan’s tea and Taiwanese snacks, coffee and snacks from Doctor Coffee and a variety of traditional and modern lanterns by Pro A Lantern will also be available.

Various energetic festive-themed performances, including Wing Chun demonstrations and special 24 seasons drums, are lined up for the festival.
