THE new Jelajahi NegaraKu Malaysia Mastercard prepaid travel card promises to be one’s ideal companion when exploring the country.

Born from a strategic partnership between the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) and homegrown financial technology company ManagePay Systems Bhd (MPay), it offers great perks and flexibility.

This includes attractive cash back and special member discounts when spending with a wide range of travel and lifestyle merchants.

MPay group marketing manager Tan Chia Wei said inbound travellers can go cashless without having to pay hefty fees when using payment cards from their home country.

“Instead of carrying a large amount of cash, they can simply purchase the card, load their Malaysian Ringgit into it, and spend with ease whilst enjoying cash back rewards.

“The card’s iconic design, with the Jalur Gemilang as well as NegaraKu and Malaysia Truly Asia branding, is set to make it a collector’s item,” she said.

Tan added that while the card is mainly catered for inbound and domestic travel, it also gives Malaysians the convenience of worldwide acceptance when overseas.

“It can be used wherever a Mastercard is accepted. Currently, this numbers some 40 million retailers and three million ATMs worldwide.

“Being a prepaid card, it also helps one avoid overspending when on holiday,” she added in a press conference at a cafe in George Town recently.

The card works seamlessly with MPay WALET, the groups digital wallet app.

Cardholders will be able to check their balance, top up and keep track of transactions from their smart phones, from anywhere around the world.

MPay will also launch a travel e-commerce platform later this month, named, with special deals for cardholders.

The Jelajahi NegaraKu Malaysia card can now be purchased online at Get it before Sept 15 to enjoy a discounted price of RM29 (normally RM39.90).

Among other perks, it comes with RM5 cash back upon the first top up, a RM10 shopping coupon, and an entry to a lucky draw offering prizes like return air tickets.

The card will also be offered at the promotional price during the MATTA Fair Penang at Setia SPICE Arena from Sept 28 to 30.

MATTA secretary-general Nigel Wong said the fair will be the best place for those with a wanderlust to secure the best travel deals.

“There is a misconception that you can only find the best prices online.

“Visit the fair and you’ll find competitive international and domestic packages for everyone across the board.

“It’s also a great place to get Muslim-friendly travel options. When you buy at a fair like this, it means you’re buying from proper and licensed travel agents,” Wong added.
