ABOUT 50 people went for the Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2018 Photographer Programme workshop over the weekend.
Held at the Kinta Riverfront Hotel and Suites, they were volunteer photographers who would be lending their skills to snap photographs of all the action during the games in Perak between Sept 14 and 22.
The workshop was presented by European Press Photo Agency (EPA) chief photographer Fazry Ismail and launched by Bercham assemblyman Ong Boon Piow, who represented state youth, sports and human capital development committee chairman Howard Lee Chuan How.
It was jointly organised by the state Sports Council, the Perak Photographic Arts and Culture Association and the Perak Press Club.
In his speech, Ong said he too was an avid photographer and hoped that the volunteers would try and capture all the best moments and shots during the games.
He also advised the volunteers to always adhere to instructions given by the Sukma organisers so that they do not disrupt the games.
“I understand that everyone wants to get the best angles for the best shots.
“Please do not break certain regulations that will cause untoward incidents,” he said.
“I understand flash photography and drones are not allowed so let’s cooperate with the organiser,” he added.
During the workshop, each participant was given a vest sponsored by Canon Marketing Sdn Bhd and an accreditation card, which are required during the games.
Organising chairman Jacky Ngo said all photographs taken during the games were to be sent to the Perak Press Club within three weeks after its closing ceremony.
He said the photographs would be compiled and published in a book or exhibited in the future.
