TO MARK Malaysia’s National Day celebration, Sunway Lagoon Sdn Bhd launched a campaign called “Proud to be Malaysian”.

“The campaign is held to celebrate our beloved country and foster unity,” said Sunway Lagoon general manager Sean Choo.

“As Malaysia’s top theme park destination with many visitors from all over the world, we are celebrating Malaysia and unity with our guests through this very special campaign that embodies Malaysia as a whole.

“We have also incorporated notable and cultural elements of the country into the campaign which makes us proud to be Malaysian,” added Choo.

In conjunction with the campaign, Sunway Lagoon also unveiled “One”, the seven sculptures of Indian bisons by Goan artist Infantino Fernandes that is permanently displayed at the main entrance of Sunway Lagoon.

Fernandes said the seven sculptures define unity.

“That’s why we named it ‘One’ and although each sculpture portrays different looks, they are united as one,” he said.

He also said he used 7,000 strips of metal to create the sculptures and it took him nearly two years to complete it.

From now until Sept 16, visitors can enjoy many fun-filled activities such as cultural dance performances, silat workshops, a flag-hoisting ceremony and traditional games such as congkak, sepak raga and batu seremban.

There will be a bazaar and food stalls selling local delights such as nasi lemak, kebab, ais kacang and much more during the campaign. — By THANESH JEYARAM
