A HOST of activities have been planned to mark the 115th anniversary of Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce (PCCC) and its century-old building from Aug 18 to 19.
Highlight of the celebration will be a sightseeing tour on ferry that passes by the Swettenham Pier, North Butterworth Container Terminal and Penang Bridge.
Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng and Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow will be the guests of honour during the two-day celebration themed ‘New Era, New Challenge, New Force, New Mission’.
PCCC president Datuk Seri Choot Ewe Seng said about 500 delegates were expected to attend the event.
“It will be unique as we are celebrating two anniversaries at the same time.
“So far, the response has been overwhelming and registration of delegates eager to join the celebration is still ongoing,” he said during a press conference recently.
Choot said the public could also join the celebration by taking part in a photography contest with cash prizes up to RM5,000 to be won.
“They are allowed to use cameras or drones to take pictures of our building in Light Street.
“The winners will be announced at 7pm on August 18 in Jalan Padang Kota Lama,” he said.
Participants have until 5pm on August 8 to submit their entries.
