KUCHING: Farmers in Ba’kelalan have been urged to adopt a sustainable method called systems of rice intensification (SRI) which can increase yield threefold while preserving the environment.

Capt (Rtd) Zakaria Kamantasha, who runs SRI Lovely Farm in Kedah, said SRI was introduced in Madagascar in the 1980s and has been adopted by farmers in over 70 countries, including the Asean region.
