Every mother wants the best for her child. This includes healthy growth and development towards a bright future.

The first few years of a child’s life is crucial for cognitive, emotional and social development and as parents, supporting their healthy development with the right nutrition is important.

Among the many essential nutrients is docosahexaenoic acid or DHA, which is like a building block for the brain.

“Sixty percent of our brain is made up of fats and one of the most important fats is DHA that helps a child’s brain to develop.

“Its importance is even more evident for young children as their brains are growing rapidly by a whopping 90% from the ages of one to five,” explained Dutch Lady Malaysia marketing director Ashlee Ng.

While DHA is abundant in some fatty fish, it may not be easy to include in children’s daily diet to ensure DHA is fully absorbed into their system.

With this in mind, Dutch Lady has improved its formulated milk powder for children with its highest DHA formulation.

“Dutch Lady formulated milk for children now offers the highest level of DHA, compared to similar products of the same price range.

“The improved Dutch Lady 123 formulation also contains higher nutrient values – approximately 44% more protein, 70% more vitamin D3, 150% more vitamin C and much more in comparison to other brands’ products of similar pricing.

“For every ringgit that Malaysian mothers pay for Dutch Lady 123, we hope to give the best value,” said Ng during the launch of the product in its new pack.

Also present at the event was consultant paediatrician and paediatric cardiologist Dr Yong Junina, who also conducts developmental assessments using the Griffiths Mental Development Scales.

She shared the role parents can play to further support children’s cognitive development and encouraged them to boost their children’s smartness by allowing them to play with building blocks or bricks, which allow kids to unleash their imagination and invent without limitation.

“Parents should join in the fun and combine playing building blocks with storytelling as such activities drive creativity and divergent thinking, not to mention social and language skills too,” she said,

Sharing stories of growing up with Dutch Lady milk were Dutch Lady formulated milk powder for children brand ambassadors Scha Alyahya with her four-year-old daughter Lara Alana.

“I’m really proud to see her growing up to be smarter and healthier day by day.

“Lara grew up drinking Dutch Lady milk and for me, it is the only brand I trust to provide quality and safe nutrition for her,” said Scha.

She added that Lara would often play with building blocks, creating her own stories about princes and princesses living in it.

“Since our inception in Malaysia more than 55 years ago, the company has been committed to nourishing the nation with trusted dairy nutrition.

“In fact, we are the first to introduce formulated milk powder for children to Malaysian mothers in 1988 and one of the first to introduce 0% sucrose or less sucrose formulation in our products in 2012 to help address rising concerns of non-communicable diseases in the country.

“As a market leader, we continuously innovate according to the needs of consumers and we are pleased to achieve another milestone in the product category of formulated milk for children -providing the highest level of DHA in every serving of Dutch Lady 123,” said Dutch Lady managing director Tarang Gupta.

Dutch Lady 123, Dutch Lady 456 and Dutch Lady 6+ with 5X DHA are available at all major hypermarkets and stores nationwide.
