SMK Methodist (ACS) Klang has plans to build a multipurpose sports hall and will be raising funds for the cause through a Charity Nite.
The event, organised by the parent-teacher association (PTA), will also mark the school’s founding 125 years ago in 1893.
It will be attended by the Old Boys Association (OBA), Board of Governors (BoG), teachers, parents, students and the community.
PTA chairman Tony Khor Loke Tun said the school did not have an indoor sports hall.
“We are selling tickets for a sumptuous dinner with raffle draws to muster up funds for the sports hall. We estimate the construction of the sports hall to cost RM500,000,” said Khor.
He added that the plan was well-received by the BoG, and the PTA would help raise half of the funds.
SMK Methodist (ACS) Klang principal Raman Annamalai said: “We can use it (the hall) for sepak takraw, futsal, basketball, volleyball, badminton and even for the afternoon session students to assemble before class starts.
“With a multipurpose hall, the next step is to have a good sports programme to cultivate new talents,” he said.
Charity Nite organising chairman Datuk Mohamad Edzuan Supario said, “The dinner is going to be an exciting night where we will have raffle draws, an eight-course Chinese dinner and performances by local singers Jay Jay, Muslee Ramlee, gamelan performers and ACS dancers.”
The SMK Methodist (ACS) Klang Charity Nite will be held on Aug 18 at the Midlands Convention Centre in Section 7, Shah Alam, at 7pm.
