PM to attend Hari Raya event in Bukit Merah

Ahmad Faizal Azumu mingled with students from the Tahfiz Barakah Centre during a Hari Raya celebration organised at The Ipoh Royal Club.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is expected to attend the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at Bukit Merah Laketown Resort today, said Perak Mentri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

He was speaking at the Royal Ipoh Club after attending a Hari Raya gathering organised by the club for some 50 orphans from the Al-barakah Tahfiz Centre earlier this week.

Ahmad Faizal who is also the state Pakatan Harapan and Pribumi chairman said over 20,000 people are expected to be present at the event from 3pm to 6pm.

He said Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, and Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, are also expected to attend the event.

“I would like to invite everybody especially those living in the northern part of Perak to come and celebrate with us.

“The resort will also be opening all of its attractions like the water park, and the zoo to the public for free during the event,” he added.

On another matter. the mentri besar said the state government is taking steps to solve problems involving a government-linked entity that will be unable to pay its staff their salaries for this month.

He said the GLC has a staff of over 100, and prior to this, they were being paid with money drawn from an overdraft facility with a bank.

Asked for more details about the entity, the mentri besar declined to elaborate.

“We are working to find a solution to continue paying the salaries by re-evaluating the entity’s agreements.

“Renegotiations will be held to ensure the entity becomes profitable, and reduces its financial burdens.” he said.
