PROPERTY developer IJM Land Bhd brought cheer to the homes of six underprivileged families in conjunction with the recent Hari Raya celebrations.

Led by its senior general manager (central region) Datuk Hoo Kim See, the team gave families in Ampangan, Paroi and Seremban 2 essential items, groceries, Raya cookies and duit raya.

Hoo said the developer decided to do its bit by helping the less fortunate celebrate Hari Raya and as part of its corporate social responsibility programme.

“It is IJM Land’s dream to tap into different ways in extending our hand to the community in which we live in and to give back to them.

“Not only do we celebrate festive occasions with the community annually, our thoughts are always with the less fortunate and especially during a time when they need more attention, care and love,” he said.

The staff distributed cooking oil, rice, sugar and flour to the families, most of whom were single parents, to help them prepare for Hari Raya.

Each also got RM200 duit raya.

Single mother Lailawati Omar who has been caring for her five children was one of the recipients.

Lailawati, who suffered a minor stroke previously, also received a walker from Hoo.

Hoo said the gesture from IJM Land was also in line with the company’s strong commitment in “Bringing Life to Ordinary Space” or to help elevate the standards of living and quality of life of the communities they operate in.

“We hope by helping families to live better and showing that help is always around the corner, we can help them take the first step to rebuild their lives and move forward,” he added.

Also present was Negri Sembilan Women and Welfare Committee chairman Nicole Tan.
