Reaching out to the interior

Volunteers for the ‘Giving Hope, Sharing Love’ expedition take time for a group photograph before setting off in 35 4WD vehicles.

KUCHING: Solar power has brightened up the villages of Long Selulong and Long Ludin in Ulu Baram, thanks to a charity expedition led by non-profitable body Hope Place Kuching.

The lighting facility may not be much, but Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan believes it could bring a sense of hope to the Penan community that conditions in their settlements would only improve.
