WHILE many are away for the Hari Raya holidays, the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) will be on standby to respond to any emergencies or disasters.

The council’s operations room will open from 8am to 11pm to act on complaints from the public or coordinate with related parties.

MPSJ’s Squad Pantas as well as representatives from the technical department will be monitoring complaints and provide aid to other safety agencies when needed.

There are 39 MPSJ employees, comprising seven Squad Pantas officers, eight enforcement officers, four employees from the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing department, 12 from engineering department and eight from management service department, who will be on duty at any one time.

They will be on rotation and some on-call during the Raya holidays.

MPSJ deputy president Mohd Zulkurnain Che Ali said the team would act as first responders to complaints.

“From tree falls, landslides, flash floods, we will be first to move to the location before other safety agencies like the fire department arrive,” he said, adding that the team went for regular training from the police, fire department and Malaysia Civil Defence Force.

The public can contact MPSJ at 03-8024 7700 for complaints that need immediate action.
