Melaka Sentral to investigate complaints against staff

MELAKA: The management of Melaka Sentral is setting up a team to probe complaints of rude behaviour of bus ticket counter staff, said Melaka Transport, Works and Public Amenities committee chairman Mohd Sofi Abdul Wahab.

He said the team would also check on facilities for passengers at the main bus terminal and if staff should be given training to deal with customers.

“The complaints were from passengers and I have asked the management to investigate,” he said after attending to a complaint on illegal sale of express bus tickets for the Hari Raya festive season at Melaka Sentral.

Mohd Sofi said the complaints included counter staff treating customers badly and rude bus drivers.

“Melaka is a top tourist destination and if the allegations are true, this will mar the state’s image,” he said.

“Recommendations will also be made to bus operators to train and monitor the performance of their customer service staff,” he said.

“Counter staff interact with the public and must be professional at all times in carrying out their duties,” he said.

On the sale of illegal express bus tickets, Mohd Sofi said it was found to be an isolated case.

“The complainant also did not provide more details except for the posting on social media stating this was happening at Melaka Sentral,” he said.
