AVID travellers looking for great bargains can now look forward to the first edition of Malaysian Association of Tour Travel Agents (MATTA) Selangor Chapter’s MATTA Fair-Selangor Carnival 2018, which will start from July 27 to 29.
The huge-scale event will be held at the Malaysian Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) in Selangor.
MATTA Selangor chairman Datuk Syed Abdul Rahman Al Habshi said the venue was chosen as it could accommodate more visitors.
“There are more than 7,000 parking bays at MAEPS, and the hall itself is huge at 8,000sq ft,” he said.
This year, MATTA Selangor plans to heavily promote interesting places in Selangor that locals have yet to discover through the MATTA Fair-Selangor Carnival 2018 (MFSC).
MFSC’s offerings are diverse with affordable holiday packages and tickets to local and international destinations by local licensed travel agents, domestic tourism exhibitors which include hotels and theme park operators, as well as international exhibitors.
At the upcoming fair, Firefly will be offering special deals including 20% off from base fares for Free Independent Traveller (FIT) bookings. Group bookings will get a 40% off from online base fares.
The offer is only valid for tickets purchased between July 27 and 29 for travel from Aug 30 onwards.
Firefly will also be giving away six flight tickets to Penang, Kota Baru and Johor Baru as part of the prizes in the Buyers’ Contest.
Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) marketing unit assistant manager Noor Haslini Shahruddin said with the venue being at MAEPS Serdang, visitors are encouraged to use the Komuter services to KTM Serdang and then take the shuttle bus provided to the event.
KTMB is also offering free ETS tickets to the lucky draw winner.
The Skypark Link free ride promotion period has also been extended to June 30.
Tourism Selangor Sdn Bhd manager Noorul Ashikin Mohd Din said the MATTA Fair was a good platform to promote Malaysia for the “Visit Malaysia 2020” campaign.
“A pavilion will be set up for Tourism Selangor and for every purchase at the Selangor Pavilion, RM1 will be donated to Tabung Harapan Malaysia,” she added.
MAEPS chief executive officer Norafizah Rahman said the MAEPS exhibition centre was unique as it is divided into two sections – indoors and outdoors.
There are eight agro gardens for the outdoor section.
Tram services will also be provided for a fee for the public to try and experience a visit to the agro gardens.
In conjunction with the fair, MATTA Selangor is collaborating with Santai as the official travel magazine for MFSC.
MATTA Selangor expects 70,000 visitors at this year’s MATTA Fair.
The carnival is open from 10am to 9pm at indoor Hall D.
Admission is free. For details, visit MATTA Selangor’s Facebook page and official Instagram account @matta_selangor
