AFTER two years of waiting, Farizah Ibrahim finally received the green light to move into a People's Housing Project (PPR) flat in Kerinchi, Kuala Lumpur.
The mother of five said she first applied for a unit with the Kuala Lumpur City Hall in 2016 but her application had been in vain.
"They (DBKL) kept telling my family to wait, even though there were many empty units available in most PPR flats," said Farizah, when met at her makeshift home in Kampung Pasir.
She and her husband, who sells burger for a living, received the letter of offer from newly-minted Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil.
Fahmi said he was told of the family's situation in April and had highlighted the issue to DBKL.
"After the election, I was surprised to see that they were still here," he said adding that his team contacted city council again to get them to visit the family and assess their living conditions.
Following the visit, DBKL offered them a unit at PPR Kerinchi, and Farizah and her family will be moving in next week.
