Taiping Zoo tickets now cheaper with 0% GST

Tourists admiring a Malayan Tiger at the Taiping Zoo and Night Safari, which is offering cheaper admission tickets following the zero-rating of GST.

PRICES of tickets for the Taiping Zoo and Night Safari are now lower following the zero-rating of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) last Friday.

Taiping Municipal Council president Datuk Abd Rahim Md Ariff said the tickets for adults to the zoo and night safari are now priced at RM16 and RM20 respectively.

He said prior to the price revision, the prices were RM17 and RM21.20 respectively.

“As for children, the prices have been reduced from RM8.50 and RM10.60 to RM8 and RM10 respectively,” he said in a statement.

The GST, which was implemented on April 1, 2015, has been removed by the Government.

As announced by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, a new Sales and Services Tax will be implemented in September.

Abd Rahim said he hoped that with 0% GST, people would be encouraged to visit the zoo and boost the town’s tourism.

He said the zoo was also offering other promotions, including a 20% discount for groups of 20 people and above.

“The discount is also applicable for those who are staying in the Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama districts.

“We are also offering a 30% discount for school trips, tour agencies and education packages while senior citizens aged 60 and above can get a 50% discount,” he said.
