Boots made for walking

When it comes to footwear, it depends on how much risk you‘re willing to take. I‘ve used hiking sandals (left) for day hikes and suffered cuts to exposed areas, and even hiking boots (right) for treks through rainforest acid mud. But for an extended expedition in our rainforests, nothing beats a pair of well-made jungle boots (centre).

IT USED to be that a simple pair of athletics trainers would see you through your forest hike or outdoor activities.

Now, there’s a bewildering array of footwear to cater to your every outdoor need or environment, from safety-toed outdoor sandals and trail runners to mid- and high-cut hiking boots or even jungle boots for the hardcore forest.
