MDDB is raising funds to complete the construction of its sanctuary in Rawang.

FEEDING over 150 dogs is not an easy task and canine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) explores every available avenue to raise funds and food.

This weekend, MDDB volunteers will be at the Pet World expo at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre to raise funds as well as kibbles for the dogs.

“It is at events like this that we are able to also promote our organisation,’’ said MDDB adoption coordinator Christine Lai.

She added that MDDB had been allocated Booth 303 at Hall 3 at the expo.

According to Lai, well-wishers can purchase dog food at any of the booths at the expo for the MDDB dogs.

“We have volunteers ready to collect the food from the vendors and all you have to do is to give us a ring at 012-250 1497 or 012-241 4749,’’ said Lai.

She said MDDB had collected some food at a pet event last month which was able to see them through for over one month.

Lai said MDDB was also raising funds to complete the construction of its sanctuary in Rawang.

“We have paid for the required materials and the structures are almost completed.

“The only problem now is the funds to pay the daily wages of the workers,’’ said Lai.

She added that there were seven skilled workers at the site and each was paid RM100 a day which totalled up to RM21,000 a month.

“We need to complete the place as soon as possible as our dogs are currently being housed in cramped conditions and this is not good for their health,’’ said Lai.

Those who want to contribute towards the MDDB sanctuary could do so at the event or find out more about the project from the MDDB volunteers there.

Some of MDDB‘s special dogs will also be at the event to greet visitors to the booth.
