INCUMBENT Balik Pulau MP Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya from Barisan Nasional is again facing Pakatan Harapan’s Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik, 53, from PKR.

The 69-year-old Hilmi is a four-term Telok Bahang assemblyman from 1990 till 2004 and from 2008 till 2013.

He served as Balik Pulau MP from 2004 to 2008 as well as from 2013 to 2018. He also held the Deputy Health Minister’s post.

He defeated Bakhtiar in GE13 with a majority of 1,539 votes.

Dr Hilmi has never lost in a general election.

Muhammad Bakhtiar, a former Penang Island City councillor, is often seen on social media speaking at ceramah and carrying out walkabouts.

His strategy is similar to Dr Hilmi’s election campaign strategy.

Also contesting for the Balik Pulau seat is PAS candidate Muhammad Imran Muhammad Saad, 49, a newcomer.
