VITAGEN has stepped forward as a sponsor of a new multi-platform education programme launched by the Nutrition Society of Malaysia (NSM) to educate Malaysians on the role of probiotics and the importance of gut health.

The Probiotics Education Programme (PEP) championed by NSM aims to raise awareness of the importance of digestive health and how probiotics can help one maintain a healthy gut.

“Most people think of bacteria as something that is bad that cause diseases but there is something called probiotics which are good bacteria that help to improve gut health,” said Vitagen general manager Poh Eng Lip.

“We support the PEP because we believe it will go a long way towards educating Malaysians about the importance of gut health,” he said.

Vitagen, the makers of the nutritious cultured milk drink, has been a sponsor of NSM’s many initiatives for several years as it supports the good work done by NSM in educating Malaysians about good health and nutritional wellbeing.

A booklet Probiotics: The Friendly Gut Bacteria for Your Health which will be available in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese is one way to educate people on gut health.

Infographic posters will also be made available for the public in clinics and schools to have a broad reach.

All education materials are available on the NSM website www.nutriweb.org.my/probiotics as well as NSM’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
