Three portals for Sg Buloh if I win: BN candidate

SUNGAI Buloh Barisan Nasional parliamentary candidate, A. Prakash Rao, has promised to set up three portals for the constituency that cater to education, e-commerce and social service needs respectively.

“During my campaigning rounds, I learnt that there were things needed by specific groups of people. If I win, I will introduce three online-based portals for the Sungai Buloh constituency,” said the 52-year-old affectionately known as Cikgu Prakash.

“They are an online transformation centre, an education portal and a jomheboh business portal,” he elaborated.

Touting them as the cornerstone of his manifesto for Sungai Buloh, the former teacher and lecturer said education was a topic close to his heart, hence his emphasis on an education portal for students who could not afford tuition classes.

“It would offer worksheets, education modules and related training materials for those sitting for UPSR, PT3 and SPM exams.

"Students would be able to download them for free. The materials would be by teachers from government schools marking exam papers or writing textbooks.

“Education is a priority for me, because it is important for the children’s future and can lift them out of poverty,” Prakash said.

The business portal, on the other hand, would be an e-commerce platform to promote products and services by craftsmen and traders in Sungai Buloh.

“Traders can use it to sell handicrafts or food, or offer car rental or lorry transport services.

"This would even give them the opportunity to sell their good and services throughout Malaysia and overseas.

“There are many enterprising traders in Sungai Buloh who lack the opportunity to promote their goods and services, so the portal will do that for them,” he said.

Meanwhile, his proposed transformation centre would be fashioned as a platform for matters like healthcare, education and emergencies.

“It would have a team monitoring the site 24 hours a day. This would serve as a website where Sungai Buloh residents can apply for aid or seek emergency help without having to wait for normal office hours,” said Prakash.

“For example, if a mother suddenly found out her son had been killed in an accident at midnight and did not know what to do, she could use the portal to seek help to settle hospital matters and funeral expenses.”

Prakash added that all three portals would be up within six months of him winning the Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat.

Acknowledging that not all constituents were Internet-savvy, he said he would also set up an office where people could seek welfare aid and collect print-outs of educational materials.

“I hope these efforts will convince voters that there are leaders who care for their welfare and for their children’s future,” said Prakash.

Also present at his manifesto launch were Barisan’s Kota Damansara candidate Datuk Halimaton Saadiah Bohan and Sungai Buloh MIC leaders.
