MYPPP National Youth Chief Sathiah Sudakaran has hit out at DAP's Segambut candidate Hannah Yeoh (above) for "not understanding" the Federal Constitution and parliamentary system despite having been a Selangor legislative assembly speaker.
He was referring to the remarks made by Yeoh on Sunday in Taman Sri Bintang, Segambut, in which she questioned the appointment of Segambut Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Loga Bala Mohan as a deputy minister despite not being an elected MP.
“I'm puzzled by the remarks.
"Loga Bala was appointed as a senator and was given the position as Federal Territory Deputy Minister on May 15, 2013," said Sathiah (pic below).
“Senators are appointed to represent the Senate or the Upper House to review legislations that had been passed by the Dewan Rakyat,
“Barisan component parties come to a consensus on the selection of senators,” he said.
“Yeoh is confusing the people with her rhetoric statements. I believe the people of Segambut are not naive,” Sathiah added.
He also demanded that Yeoh explain the reasons behind her move to the Segambut constituency from her previous state seat of Subang Jaya.
“Is it a DAP culture that their elected representatives would always adopt the nomadic political culture of contest different places just to get elected to either Parliament or state assembly?
“Why is it Yeoh did not remain in Subang Jaya and seek reelection to continue serving the people there?
“Is it because Yeoh had a bad report card for her performance as an assemblyman in Subang Jaya that she hopped to Segambut?” he asked.
