DOZENS of billboards showcasing Penang’s favourite street foods have been put up along popular roads here for the general election by the Pakatan Harapan coalition.
The billboards showing pictures of a variety of food such as young coconut, rojak, pasembur, nasi lemak and char koay teow are accompanied with statements about fighting corruption, fostering harmony and the state having the highest foreign investment rate.
The rojak and pasembur billboards read ‘Penangites of various background live in harmony, like rojak and pasembur’, while the nasi lemak billboards read ‘our state is small but best like nasi lemak’.
Penang DAP election machinery deputy chief Steven Sim, whose team came up with the idea, said there were six variants of the billboards, and about 50 of them have been placed throughout the state.
“In line with the ‘I Love Penang’ theme, the billboards are a representation of our love for good food which Penang is famous for.
“For Penangites, these are things that are close to our heart,” he said.
