Hospital‘s cycling event raises RM20,000 for charity association

Participants of the cycling event off to a great start.

COLUMBIA Asia Hospital in Bukit Rimau, Shah Alam, raised RM20,000 for the Great Heart Charity Association (GHCA) through its charity cycling event.

The 20km event attracted some 800 participants who rode around Bukit Rimau, Kota Kemuning and Rimbayu.

Flagging off the cyclists at 8am was hospital regional general manager Tom Lim, who later presented a mock cheque to GHCA co-founder and secretary Ric See.

“We have a passion for making people better and this charity fun ride is in line with our corporate social responsibility policy,” said Lim.

The association was selected as a beneficiary for assisting the community through projects for underprivileged families, dialysis patients, orphans, old folk and the disabled.

See said the funds would be used to run various projects and facilities under the association, namely the Great Heart community centre as well as shelters for the elderly and underprivileged.

“Apart from it being a community effort on our part, we chose to organise this bicycle ride to create awareness of the benefits of cycling and the importance of exercise.

“We are happy to see individuals, teams and families participate in this event,” Lim said.
