THE Rotary Club of Bandar Sunway is hosting a Zumba fundraising concert for its flagship “Leg for Legless” project, particularly to establish an artificial limb centre in Malaysia that will give away free prosthetics to needy recipients.
Organised by the Rotary Club of Bandar Sunway, the event titled “United We Dance” will take place on April 28 from 7.30am to 2.30pm at Stadium Juara in Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, and is expected to draw a crowd of 2,000.
This was announced by club president Asvika Maheswary at a press conference attended by Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan.
“This is a good start to encourage more Malaysians to be healthy, fit and at the same time contribute to a good cause.
“The public’s mentality must change, and more should be interested to take part in fundraising events like this,” Saravanan said.
Asvika then introduced the event’s ambassadors – popular evergreen musician Datuk David Arumugam and local football legend Datuk Santokh Singh.
“The combination of music and Zumba results in a healthy and fun-filled activity that provides for interaction and an opportunity to raise funds for worthy causes.
“Reaching out to the weaker members of society is a very noble act,” David said.
Santokh commended the club for its service to society and called on the public to sign up for the event.
“I fully support this fundraising project and urge everyone to help make it a grand success,” he said.
Ticket prices are RM20 for children aged seven to 15, RM50 for students, RM110 for normal price and RM300 for VIP tickets. Participants of all categories will get a Zumbathon T-shirt.
There will be performances and sale by various vendors on site.
