CUSTOMERS of AmBank (M) Bhd can expect seamless digital banking experience and services with the launch of the all-new AmOnline.

The Internet banking platform underwent a revamp to provide customers with not only a fresh and minimalistic look, but also an easy, simple and fast online banking experience.

Transacting features include fund transfer, bill payments and JomPay, prepaid mobile top ups, credit card and loan payments, foreign remittances, and eFixed Deposit which can now be done with just a few clicks.

Customers can also consolidate their outstanding credit card balance from other banks into their AmBank credit cards, or get cash from their credit card under the “Quick Apply” feature.

As AmOnline is accessible 24 hours a day, customers can perform these transactions at their convenience, anytime and anywhere without the need to call or walk into bank branches.

The all-new AmOnline is said to be the first online banking platform in Malaysia to be equipped with a multilingual option – English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese, catering to the diverse background of the bank’s customers.

It had a soft launch in August 2017 when it was tried and tested among AmBank staff, followed by a public release in October.

“Our vision for AmOnline is to create the best eCommerce-like banking experience, allowing customers to invest, gain access to financing and fulfil their end-to-end financial needs entirely online.

“As we move towards digital space, we really want to transform the bank and change the way we interact with our customers.

“It begins with making it convenient for our customers and understanding their paying points, developing new channels and integrating one kind of experience across our channels.

“At the end of the day, the journey is about how we can continue to remain relevant to customers,” said AmBank Group group chief executive officer Datuk Sulaiman Mohd Tahir at the official launch of AmOnline.

The upcoming features at AmOnline include allowing customers to increase their credit card limit, and making it easier to apply for a new or supplementary card online based on their eligibility.

The enhancement of the portal also saw the design of the mobile application aspect, bringing Internet banking to customers’ fingertips.

AmBank Group group chief operations officer Datuk Iswaraan Suppiah said over half the customers were found accessing online banking from a mobile device.

“Our mobile app is responsive, optimised for the form factor and device capabilities of smartphones, and is as comprehensive, if not more comprehensive than our web offering,” said Iswaraan.

The mobile application is available for download on App Store or Google Play.

At the event, AmBank also launched a virtual service representative called Ask Amy, with the name being short for AmBank Malaysia, aimed at becoming customers’ BFF (best friend forever).

Rolling out in the second half of 2018, Ask Amy will be within the AmOnline mobile app designed to help customers with transactions such as cancelling or activating cards immediately.

“We analysed the top reasons why customers called contact centres and with Ask Amy, we will progressively build a digital-era alternative to fulfil these service requests,” he added.

On the safety aspects of AmOnline, Iswaraan assured customers that security measures were taken so customers can make transactions with peace of mind.

This includes authenticating the user on both web and app via a QR code, and having to authorise again using AmBank Secure mobile app when transactions are over RM10,000.

To-date, AmOnline has recorded about 500,000 users for both website and mobile app, and AmBank targets to reach one million users by the end of the year.

The transaction value conducted via the portal and app currently is about RM900mil per month.

To commemorate the launch of the all-new AmOnline, AmBank is offering eFixed Deposit promotion of 4.28%p.a. for an eight-month term until May 31 with the promo code: LAUNCH.
