Budget hotels seek more equitable royalties payment

THE Malaysia Budget Hotel Association (MyBHA) is proposing a flat rate of RM150 to be paid by its member hotels to Music Rights Malaysia Bhd (MRM), the licensing body collecting music royalties in the country.

MyBHA secretary seneral for Administration and Human Resource Emmy Suraya Hussein said, before the setting up of MRM, hoteliers were required to pay between RM5.50 and RM12.50 per room to four different regulatory government agencies a year.
