ADOPT a green lifestyle, and the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) will give you a RM300 rebate on your assessment tax.

In order to qualify for the rebate, a Shah Alam resident would have to adopt at least three green initiatives among a number listed by the council. Among them are installing solar panels, driving a hybrid car or electric motorcycle, and planting more than five garden vegetables.

The scheme is open to owners or tenants of all housing types. You have to submit photographs as proof that you have undertaken these initiatives.

Shah Alam Mayor Datuk Ahmad Zaharin Mohd Saad announced the new programme today (Thursday) at the MBSA full board meeting.

He said the rebate was open to the first 100 successful applicants and was subject to checks by the council’s officers.

“For the first phase, we will open it up to 100 people first. This is the first attempt at a green initiative like this and we hope it encourages stakeholders to adopt a green lifestyle,” he said.

This is part of the council’s attempt to achieve low-carbon city status by 2030.

Application will be open from April 1,2018, to July 31, 2018 and forms can be downloaded at www.mbsa.gov.my.
