PENANG MCA will go all out to assist Barisan Nasional candidates in the Batu Kawan parliamentary constituency.
State MCA chief Datuk Tan Teik Cheng said the party will not be contesting in any of the seats.
“We will, however, assist the Gerakan and MIC candidates in the Barisan spirit,” he said.
He was speaking at a dinner organised by the Batu Kawan MCA division in conjunction with Chinese New Year at a restaurant in Simpang Ampat, Nibong Tebal, on Wednesday.
“I’m also happy with the turnout which included the leaders and supporters of Barisan’s component parties,” he said.
Teik Cheng added that the event was held in the spirit of Barisan Nasional with a 1Malaysia theme where various races sat together to enjoy the dinner.
Teik Cheng also congratulated Batu Kawan MCA chief Datuk Tan Lee Huat for organising the dinner, attended by more than 250 people.
Earlier in his speech, Lee Huat said his division will go all out to campaign for Barisan candidates in the Batu Kawan parliamentary constituency.
Also present were Batu Kawan Umno chief Datuk Mohd Noor Ahmad, Batu Kawan MIC chief S.Ramalingam, MyPPP Batu Kawan chief M. Malliga and Batu Kawan Barisan coordinator Datuk Jayanthi Devi Balaguru.
