INSTEAD of the usual gift hampers for Chinese New Year, 55 senior citizens from the Macallum Street Ghaut area in Penang got gift boxes of health products from the Macallum Street 1Malaysia Community Service.
Each of them received a luxury gift box of Oat King nutrition food products and a health products bouquet during an afternoon tea session recently.
The senior citizens and their family members were also treated to afternoon tea of fried noodles, nyonya kuih, cakes, and pastries.
Its advisor Lim Swee Bok said children and grandchildren who have their parents and grandparents around, should treasure the reunion with their family members during Chinese New Year.
“Many young children today are being taken care of by their grandparents as their parents might be away for work.
“We have to teach our younger generation to respect the elderly and be thankful for what they have done for us,” he said.
Macallum Street 1Malaysia Community Service chairman Lee Thuan Chye said the youngest recipient was 64 years old while the oldest was 87.
Also present were Li Tek Alumni Association chairman Tan Ah Chye and TG Ocean Health Food Industries Sdn Bhd managing director Ong Thor Guan.
