THE Penang government did not hang white lanterns, usually used during funerals, along Cheong Fatt Tze Road (formerly known as Hong Kong Street) in conjunction with Chinese New Year, said Tanjong MP Ng Wei Aik.

He said the lanterns, which were put up by the Hong Kong Street Tow Boh Keong Temple during its 175th anniversary and the Nine Emperor Gods Festival last September used to be yellow but they faded after being in the sun for months.
