LIONS Club of Puchong has answered the #DaretoCare campaign’s call for school supplies to give to children’s welfare homes.

The club contributed 20 sets of school supplies worth RM2,500, comprising a new school bag, a pair of school shoes, socks and pencil case each.

Present at SkyWorld Gallery @ Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, to hand over the items to SkyWorld Development Group chief operating officer Lee Chee Seng was Lions Club of Puchong president Ling Sew Shin.

The event was witnessed by Star Media Group advertising and business development deputy general manager Lydia Wang, Star Media Group group managing director and chief executive officer’s office special officer Loo Phan Kooi, Lions Club of Puchong past president Cheryl Chow, past president Goh See Sin, treasurer Cindy Lim, “Tamer” Lobo Chua, zone chairman and immediate past president Loy Kwee Keow, charter president Jimmy Chin and member Kuah Onn An.

Thanking Swan Foundation for sponsoring the Swan-brand items, Ling said, “We are honoured to be given the opportunity to help the less fortunate by supporting this cause, which is also in line with our motto ‘We Serve’.

“Contributing to the campaign allows us to reach out more to the youth and children, which is one of the core areas we focus on as we serve the community,” he added.

Ling hopes more people will come forward and support this campaign.

He was grateful to the club’s dedicated members for contributing their time and effort in making a difference in the lives of those in need.

“The #DaretoCare charity drive takes our corporate social responsibility to new heights with Star Media Group in our concerted aim to boost public awareness on the growing needs of underprivileged homes in the Klang Valley, while encouraging fellow Malaysians to lend a helping hand through the simple act of donating.

Thanking Lions Club of Puchong for their generosity, Lee said, “We hope this charity drive will help to inspire everyone to give what they can for the well-being of the underprivileged.

“We are thankful many Malaysians have stepped up to donate.

“A big thank you to all for supporting this cause,” said Lee.

The #DaretoCare campaign is a joint charity initiative championed by Star Media Group and SkyWorld Development Group to address the needs of welfare homes in Malaysia.

The campaign encourages the public to give and help the less fortunate by filling in gifts or donations of essential items in the given brown paper bags.

So far, 50,000 copies of The Star in the brown paper bags has been distributed while another 50,000 paper bags will reach readers on tomorrow.

The filled bags can be dropped off at SkyWorld’s property galleries in Sentul, Setiawangsa, Bukit Jalil, and Setapak, from now until Feb 15, where the developer will collect and distribute the items to selected welfare homes.

Alternatively, donors can also get the paper bags at any of the property galleries, or drop off the donations directly.

As a token of appreciation for donors, SkyWorld will give away GSC movie tickets when they make their donations; terms and conditions apply.
