Roads and bridge to be closed tomorrow night for police fun ride


SEVERAL roads and the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge in Penang will be closed for the Second Penang Bridge PDRM 2017 Solidarity Fun Ride.

They will be closed from 10.30pm tomorrow to 4am on Saturday.

Penang Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Supt Roslan Ali said the bridge would be completely closed while the roads would be closed and reopened in stages.

“Both the local police and the public will be taking part in the run,” he said in a press statement yesterday.

Supt Roslan said traffic cops would be be stationed at closure points to advise motorists on alternative routes and detours that have been prepared.

The roads affected are the exit ramp from Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway to Persiaran Bayan Indah and the Gold Coast roundabout as well as the exit from the marine police base towards Pantai Jerejak.

All roads from the Bayan Lepas industrial area leading to the second Penang bridge will be closed too.

The elevated Bayan Lepas Expressway will remain open and only the underpasses below are affected.

In Seberang Prai, the two roads affected are the entrance from the North-South Expressway towards the second bridge and the entrance and exit into Jalan Bandar Cassia heading towards the bridge.
