Villagers in central Sarawak told to be wary of rising waters

Sarawak Energy has released a massive amount of water from the Bakun Hydroelectric Dam in central Sarawak as the heavy rain has caused the dam reservoir to swell.

MIRI: People living along the Balui River and Rajang River in central Sarawak have been warned to watch out for swift rising river water after Sarawak Energy Bhd began releasing water from the 210-metre high Bakun Hydroelectric Dam reservoir that had swelled to high levels because of rain.

Sungai Asap Resettlement Scheme community elder Matthew Belare told StarMetro that there has been a sudden surge in river waters.
