Telco expands its 4G network to more areas in Sarawak

KUCHING: More Maxis customers in Sarawak will be able to enjoy faster speeds on their mobile phones for surfing and streaming as the telco expands its 4G network to more locations. 

Maxis Sarawak region head Alexius Bong said the telco’s 4G LTE network had now reached 89% of the population in the state, including those in small towns.

“If you go to places such as Spaoh, Debak or Betong, for example, you will find that we already have 4G coverage there,” he said at a media session here yesterday.

Other locations with Maxis 4G coverage include Siburan, Bau, Lundu, Sematan, Bintangor, Kanowit, Julau, Samalaju, Tatau, Limbang, Lawas, Mukah, Kapit, Saratok and Sarikei.

Customers’ data usage is also growing.

In fact, Maxis customers in Sarawak and Sabah use an average of 12GB per month, higher than the average of 7.5GB per month.

Besides introducing new products and services, Maxis is expanding is retail footprint to serve customers better.

This year, the telco opened 10 new hybrid stores in Sarawak, covering Kuching, Sibu, Kota Samarahan, Lundu, Lawas, Limbang and Mukah.
