Over a thousand houses, bungalows and privately-owned properties may have to make way for the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (KL-SG HSR) when construction begins, according to MyHSR Corporation (MyHSR Corp) Land Management Division general manager Muhammad Yasir Yahya.
Muhammad Yasir said this during a work plan briefing at the Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) Draft Local Plan 2025 meeting.
The properties that have come under study are located on the border of Precint 14 in Putrajaya and Kampung Dato Abu Bakar Baginda in Kajang, Sekata Vista and Desa Bestari in Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi, Sepang, as well as Desa Salak Permai in Negri Sembilan.
The estimated number of properties under study in Petaling district alone stands at 1,000 privately owned lots, and Muhammad Yassir said MyHSR Corp had already taken proactive steps to engage with the resident associations in these housing areas.
The engagement sessions which will take place in November will be carried out by MyHSR Corp without the presence of local councils.
However, MPSepang president Datuk Puasa Md Taib has urged the developer and asset owner for the HSR Malaysian side to provide feedback on these in Sepang after each meeting.
The engagement exercise is running in tandem with the public inspection booths set up in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor to collect feedback from affected communities so they can voice out their concerns on the environmental aspects that will arise from the project.
In Sepang, the HSR alignment is scheduled to run through 11 streets but this remains to be confirmed pending approval from the various local councils.
