FOR police corporal Alias Hamdan duty comes first, even if his house at the police quarters in Bandar Baru Ayer Itam was inundated by floodwaters.

The 49-year-old, who is with the George Town police district headquarters’ mobile vehicle patrolling unit, was making his rounds monitoring the flood situation at midnight on Sunday, when he received a call two hours later from his wife telling him that their house was flooded.
